Benjamin Chaffee is the Associate Director and Curator of Visual Arts in the Center for the Arts (CFA), Wesleyan University where he curates/organizes exhibitions in the Ezra and Cecile Zilkha Gallery and the gallery at the Mansfield Freeman Center for East Asian Studies. At Wesleyan he has curated group exhibitions including Always Being Relation(2024); The Language in Common (2021); A SCULPTURE, A FILM, & SIX VIDEOS (2020); and Audible Bacillus (2019); and co-curated DFT 2025 (2025) with Salim Green. He’s also curated and co-curated solo and two-person exhibitions including Chris Domenick (2025), Parker Ito (2025), Justin Caguiat (2024) and K.R.M. Mooney (2024), No Title: Relays and Relations, Works by Renée Green and Sol LeWitt (2023), Carrie Yamaoka (2023), Ilana Harris-Babou (2023), Renee Gladman (2022), Nick Raffel (2022), Dana DeGiulio (2022), Brandon Ndife (2022), Diane Simpson (2020), Brendan Fernandes (2019), Kahlil Robert Irving (2018) and is working on a forthcoming group exhibition titled Mozart’s Chair (2026-2027). Prior to joining the CFA, Chaffee worked as a Director of Corbett vs. Dempsey, Chicago, Illinois. He is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Art at Wesleyan and has also worked as a visiting lecturer and exhibiting artist.
